Preproduction
I will help you examine your demos, riffs, and ideas and explore ways we can turn good into great.

Tracking
Once the song is great, I will record it making sure that your best performances are captured.
STEP THREE
Mixing
I will make your great song SOUND great. Your song will be professionally mixed so that the emotional intent of your music impacts your listeners exactly the way you intend. I will communicate early and often to make sure your song goes in the sonic direction you have in mind. And most importantly, it’s not done until you LOVE it.
STEP FOUR
Mastering
I will deliver a polished, loud, slamming master that sounds incredible in every possible listening environment. Whether you’re in your car, in front of a sound system, or on ear buds, your music will sound sick.

Hi, I’m Dan Ferguson. Engineer, Producer, and owner of Riff Haven Audio. Making records for over 20 years, I understand how important it is for artists to love their music, and what it takes to make a great record.
Easy as it is to make music in today’s era, it’s still just as difficult to make GREAT music. There are so many pitfalls to consider.

Q. I write music, but don’t have a band, can I still hire you?
Yes, absolutely! I can provide any additional instrumentation you need for your project! Don’t have a drummer? I can program drums, or my session drummer will play on your song. Your bassist quit the band? I can track the bass for your project. Anything you need for your project, I can provide.
Q. Do you mix/master self-recorded bands?
Yes. I have mixed/mastered for bands that have recorded themselves, and the songs came out great. I will say that the highest quality projects I have worked on are the ones that I produced and engineered. A professional touch goes a LONG way.
Q. What’s the typical timeline from start to release?
I adapt to the artist. If you want to work on a song once or twice a week and have a release in a couple of months, we can do that. If you want to come in every day and knock out a project in a week or two, we can do that as well. Either way we go, I will never miss your deadline.
Q. How does pricing work?
Each project is unique. A 4 minute metalcore song with melodic vocals that have harmonies is very different from a 2 minute hardcore song with one screaming vocal. Once I understand all the elements involved in your project I can provide an accurate fee.
Q. Why shouldn’t I do this myself?
You can! Lots of bands do. It really comes down to the level of quality you’re after. If the goal is just to release a song, DIY is definitely an option. If your goal is to release a song that you will be proud of forever because it sounds sick, hiring a professional is that way to go.
